Lake Manyara National Park Flamingos

Offers diverse habitats from dense forests to open plains in one compact park.

Lake Manyara National Park lies in northern Tanzania at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, covering just 330 square kilometers. Though smaller in size, its ecological diversity is immense, ranging from lush groundwater forests and acacia woodlands to soda lake flats that draw thousands of flamingos.

The park is best known for its population of tree-climbing lions, large elephant herds, and impressive birdlife, especially around the shallow alkaline Lake Manyara.

It also boasts one of Africa’s only treetop canopy walkways, offering a bird’s-eye view of forest life and monkeys.

Its compact nature allows for rewarding half-day or full-day safaris, especially convenient for visitors traveling between Arusha, Tarangire, and Ngorongoro.

Lake Manyara blends classic wildlife viewing with beautiful scenery and lesser crowds, making it an excellent addition to any northern Tanzania safari itinerary.
